Take product photos that sell
Simple tips for clear photos with just a phone.
- Use daylight. Stand near a window and turn off the flash.
- Use a plain background. A white sheet, a wall or a sheet of card works well.
- Shoot square and fill most of the frame with the product. Your photos show as squares in the shop, and a photo that isn’t square is cut to a square from the middle.
- Use a big enough photo: at least 1200 × 1200 pixels. Any phone photo is big enough, and photos bigger than 2560 pixels are made smaller for you when you upload them.
- Show it from a few sides: front, back, a close-up of the label or the fabric.
- Show the size. A photo in someone’s hand or next to an everyday object helps.
- Keep it clean: no text, borders or logos on the photo.
